This is my experience of modding GTA 4 on Linux Mint in 2026. I'm an experienced modder who makes every mistake possible

I cannot reccomend enough copying your clean install before editing any files. I've had to reinstall this game like 3x before learning my lesson. It's only 20gb and I have decently fast internet but, there is only so many times I can go on a tea break before it gets annoying

• Fusion Fix

  Absolute must have. This fixes most of R* bullcrap & makes this game actually worth buying in 2026. It also works with the latest version of the game straight out of the box (Atleast for me)
  I will quickly mention though, make a note of anytime you make a change on GTAIV.EFLC.FusionFix.ini and keep a clean copy saved as I spent far too long troubleshooting mod folders just to find out I had buggered a setting on here

  Can't get it to work!!!
  ExtendedLimits = 0 DO NOT CHANGE THIS. It was causing me constant headbanging CTDs that I couldn't figure out. Instead just change EpisodicVehicles = 1 & VehicleBudget = 140000000 (Set this higher if you keep seeing taxis everywhere)
